Suparwono The Tallest man in Indonesia

Suparwono claims that he is the tallest man in the world today with 272cm before, However, after measuring Suparwono in both a lying and a standing position, the museum found that the 25-year-old was just 7ft 11in – two inches shorter than Kosen.

This makes him the tallest man in Indonesia, but does not qualify him for the Guinness Book of World Records.

"We had reports this morning including the result of measurements from a hospital which were 2.71 metres,” said museum director Ngadri. “But we have to stick to our measurement.”

Suparwono, who comes from the village of Tri Tunggal Jaya on the island of Sumatra, was first identified as a world record holder when a relative invited neighbours to take pictures of him.

He lives with his parents and earns money doing odd jobs around the village. He eats almost seven pounds of rice and 15 eggs a day.

“I started to realise my exceptional height when I was 10 years old,” he said. “At that time, I was already the tallest at my school and in my village.”

Suharto said he felt “proud” of his height, but added: “It also gives me problems because I can't live like normal people.”

Both rare and immense, the gem is thought to be surpassed in size only by the 14-pound "Pearl of Allah," an approximately 14-pound, 31,893.5-carat pearl that, like the Palawan Princess, was the product of the giant clam shell Tridacna gigas and was also found off the coastal waters of the Philippines.

The approximately 11,339-carat Palawan Princess is a blister pearl measuring six inches in diameter and accompanied by the lower half of its original giant clam shell, which shows the point of attachment where the pearl formed.

Some of the timepieces that were best sellers at this auction include, the Patek Philippe platinum and diamond wristwatch Ref. 3990 which fetched 312,000 CHF ($307,990), the white gold Patek Philippe ref. 5102 “Celestial” that fetched 228,000 CHF ($225,090), and the Patek Philippe Ref. 5041, a rare white gold wristwatch with perpetual calendar sold for a commendable 102,000 CHF ($100,710).

Overall, an extremely successful sale, the Antiquorum’s anniversary sale “Celebrating 35 Years of Making History in Time” drew an impressive 12,174,948 CHF ($12,020,873) in total sales over the two days.
